Is birth control ruining human kind?

in #birth7 years ago (edited)

I get it. Birth control has given women and men so much more freedom in life. To work. To be childless. Choices. But I wonder if as a whole it is hurting our society. Why? The people who are responsible using their birth control are the people who would be responsible for their children. The parents who would care, or at least think about, the choices they made for their children. We have essentially culled a huge portion of our prime breeders. We are messing with the evolutionary process and it will come back to bite us.

I am not religious, but is this what those Catholics foresaw? Was it not about producing more people for the tithe? Not about keeping the woman in the kitchen?

Many years ago I saw the movie Idiocracy and the intro was pure gold. I pointed to the screen and looked at my friends. "This! This is what I have been talking about!"

I am not so cynical as to suggest that this was the intended cause. I really do think it was intended to give people choices and free our minds from our bodies. Further proof of this is the movement to provide birth control for "free" so as to help balance out the usage. Yet, making birth control "free" just starts thinning out the poor as well, not the irresponsible.

Are we doomed?

Funny movie, kinda scary if this becomes prophetic.
