Has Bitcoin solved its transaction speed issues?

in #bitcoin8 years ago (edited)

So .. Bitcoin .. Is it still slow to confirm? ... I got into Crypto Currency about 2 years ago and fell in love with Bitcoin and its potential to change the world monetary system, When i 1st started to use it it seemed fairly fast and my transactions confirmed within minutes.. It was only about 3 months ago i noticed transactions seemed to take a long time to confirm and on average it took 30 mins - 1 hour to confirm .. i myself have never had to wait longer than a day for it to confirm but have heard many story's of people waiting upto 2 days and i sort of find that hard to believe, Have you had to wait upto 2 days or longer? ... So anyway i feel that it is starting to speed back up as now my transaction confirmation times are back down to 10 minutes or sooner... I feel that there is not really a confirmation issue any longer as i am no longer waiting that long for it to confirm .. Please let me know if you are waiting longer than 10 minutes? ... How long are you waiting for? ... Does anyone feel that there was slight manipulation some how from miners so they could charge more? ... For a test i sent Bitcoin,Litecoin,Xrp,Pivx to my Bittrix account literally all at the same time and it was Bitcoin that confirmed the quickest followed by Xrp,Litecoin then Pivx ... Yet all these coins say they are faster than Bitcoin but they was not in my test and also what would they be like if they had anywhere near the market cap and usage of Bitcoin ... I say better the devil you know ... :)

Does it even need to fix its transactions fees?

Why do you think that? .. :)

Ive worked internationally for years using swift transfers, the amount of hoops, the costs and the time. Bitcoin has already layed them flat on their faces. I dont think it needs to be better. It jsut needs to remain a stable secure place of value. Not faster. Leave faster for some front end market coin. I dont care if bitcoin is used for P2P retail transfers. Fuck it, leave it value, use litecoin for retail markets or ethereum. Let Bitcoin remain a robust money

I transferred some BTC yesterday and it was quicker than I expect. Just a few minutes and a reasonable fee. It all depends how much you're willing to pay miners.

True ... What are you happy to pay? what do you feel is a fair charge to just say send £100 worth of Btc
