Bitmain prepares a hard bifurcation in response to UASF
On June 14, Bitmain launched an action plan where UASF (user activated soft fork) will be activated on August 1. The announcement specifies that Bitmain intends to activate a hard bifurcation (UAHF).
Bitmain announces a backup plan for UASF
According to Bitmain's retailers, UASF (or BIP 148) is a dangerous attempt to split the network. Bitmain believes that UASF will have severe consequences and sees this move as an "attack" or as "eradication," with no possibility of eschewing.
"Through UASF there is a risk that the original Blockchain will disappear," says the company's representatives. "In the absence of a back-up plan, there is a risk that after the activation of UASF, all economic activity will be eradicated. If that happens, it would be a disaster for the whole ecosystem. "
The propaganda movement hinders SegWit2X
Bitmain says a significant proportion of businesses and over 80% of the hash rate agreed on May 24 to support SegWit2X. Bitmain representatives have reported that Bitcoin Core developers have refused to attend the meeting, and they agree with UASF. Returning to the Segwit2X, its development follows the plan. An alpha version will also be available from mid-month. Bitmain believes that a plan that threatens the whole ecosystem has been set up in the forums:
"Despite the NY agreement on SegWit2X, the propaganda that sustains UASF continues on several private forums. Surprisingly, many are controlled ... by the same person. Most developers working on Bitcoin Core are on the UASF side. The risks generated by BIP148 concern the entire ecosystem. So we're preparing a backup plan to protect our Blockchain-based business. Understanding in New York is still deliberately sabotaged by Bitcoin Core developers. "
collaboration
Bitmain will work alongside other developers at a hard bifurcation, considered a backup plan. Because of the threats to the network since 1 August, in the company's opinion, the entire community must be prepared to cope with the risk of destruction. Thus, Bitmain decided to take a firm stand against UASF.
This move involves collaborating with community developers to build a backup plan and create a strong bifurcation (UAHF):
"Bitmain will mines a new Blockchain 72 hours after activation of BIP148 and is also helped by a significant percentage of the network's hash rate. We will put the mining blocks to the public only if the situation demands it, which means that we will mince privately in the first phase. We will also allow miners to join us. "
The backup plan is very elaborate and contains many technical details. Bitmain concluded recommending all those involved in bitcoin business to carefully study the effects of UASF on the network. The company also added that everyone "needs to be prepared to reduce or eliminate the risks posed by UASF."
Its very clear the market doesn't want Segwit right now, but wants the blocksize increased immediately. Hopefully, Bitmain will stand behind this plan if UASF is used to attack the network.
