Bitcoin is not being adopted, it's just being purchased. Its transaction capacity is pitifully small, it literally cannot be adopted in any meaningful way, even if speculators weren't using 99% of that capacity themselves, driving fees up so high that it doesn't even make sense to use Bitcoin in commerce outside of very large purchases or remittance payments.

As Andreas Antonopoulos says, Bitcoin will continue to fail to scale gracefully. Like the internet has done for 25 years.
