Those in the know will have known about Bitcoin Gold or Bgold for almost a month now while the crypto mainstream is only just starting to pick up on it. Bitcoin holding is becoming more and more lucrative. From the Bitcoin Gold fork and the Segwit 2x fork, Bitcoin holders are being paid just for holding Bitcoin.

What is Bgold?

Bgold is a friendly fork coming out of China that aims to be the most decentralised version of bitcoin. The project is headed by Jack Liao who is the CEO of the Hong Kong mining company LightningASIC.

This is a Bitcoin fork with a difference. Firstly, it aims to be truly decentralised by offering GPU mining for the Bgold network. Using the Equihash algorithm, Bgold will be resistant to ASIC mining and fully optimised for GPU mining. This could spell good news Ethereum miners when Ethereum makes the switch to proof-of-stake.

How to Get your Bitcoin Gold?

The snapshot of the Bitcoin blockchain will be taken on the 25th October. If, for example, you hold 1 BTC on your private key before the snapshot is taken you will receive 1 Bitcoin Gold.

The Bgold mainnet will go live on the 1st November. At the moment, both Trezor and Ledger have not said whether they would support the Bgold fork. However, Bgold does expect to have support of both hardware wallet companies before then.

Of course, Trezor and Ledger will be more likely to support the Bgold fork if there is demand for the fork by its customers. You can contact your hardware wallet manufacturer to urge them to support the Bgold fork.
