Bitcoin Gold and how can I truly get it?
Hello all,
I have been wondering how to claim my bitcoin gold and did not find any affirmative answer with first hand experience, so I thought I let the community know of my experience.
First of all, I ran the whole bitcoin node and it was a pain when I learned my computer was dead yesterday. The first thing I did was to take out the hard drive and put it in my desktop to get the entire blockchain. I then got my privkey from my bitcoin qt.
Many of us know how to extract the privkey however for those who don't here is how to do it.
Launch your wallet like you always do and navigate to help>>debug window>>console
Then in the console type: walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
This will give a null response which means the wallet is now unlocked for 10 mins (600 seconds).
Then type: dumpprivkey [your Bitcoin address here]
This will give you the privkey for the specific address (in case you have multiple addresses in one wallet).
Once you have the privkey, open coinomi wallet and add bitcoin gold as new coin to your wallet.
In the right hand top corner, click on 3 dots and select sweep wallet function.
Before we go ahead, let me explain what sweep wallet command is. This is simply, a coin transfer from your existing wallet to your new coinmi wallet. This will be just like a standard transaction and will cost you the nominal fees.
Once you select sweep function, paste your privkey you obtained from bitcoin-qt wallet. If you had bitcoins in your account during snapshot, you will see your equivalent bitcoin gold. Once you confirm the sweep action, coinomi will initiate a transfer from old wallet to new wallet.
Hope this helps to those who are in same boat as I was a day or two ago.

We have to wait for the exchanges to add it if they want to. There are other ways but it can get a bit complicated.
I agree. I was so confused and moreover was not sure if I should transfer my bitcoins or not before claiming bitcoin gold. Thanks for the reply.
