In Switzerland, the door is wide open to blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and a project was announced to test online voting based on the blockchain technology.

In November last year, for the purpose of testing this project, there were 200 users in the existing electronic ID verification system. Users will become voters who will be able to download their existing apps via their smartphones to the port in which they will register and perform trivial voting.

In addition, all citizens will be invited to join this project, which will be implemented on June 25 and July 1, and will become part of the first trivial blockchain voting in the country.

Voters will be interviewed for an opinion in the area including the use of fireworks at the Lakeside Festival, the use of an electronic ID in various services (for example, borrowing books from the library, paying parking fees, lending to city bikes, etc.)

The last question will be related to the introduction of the blockchain ID system on regular referendums.

Since it's a test, the collected answers will not be considered as something that authorities should react to and make decisions.

Citizens have control over their data

As I already said, the idea for the project came to life last year, and the citizens had their eID join blockchain technology which allows them a decentralized database where citizens are the sole owners of their data.

The City of Zug has been supporting the crypto market for a long time and has already implemented several projects related to blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency payments are accepted for certain public services.

With the support of the government, an independent blockbuster development association - Crypto Valley - has been set up in Switzerland.

The primary task of the association is to exploit the potential of this country and to create a leading blockchain system, and this kind of move can bring Switzerland to the leader position of the crypto world.
