How will the Futures market impact the price of Bitcoin?

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

Today the CBOE will launch it's Bitcoin Futures product at 6pm (ET), allowing large investors to make both long and short trades on Bitcoin, without the need to physically own Bitcoin. This is a highly anticipated move that will provide exposure to major institutional investors who want a level of exposure to Bitcoin, but don't feel comfortable with the current level of custodianship available with traditional Bitcoin investments.

Considering the launch of the Bitcoin futures tonight, do you think the price will go up or down? I'd love to hear your thoughts about whether the bulls or bears might win in this battle on the futures market!

For me personally, I expect there to be significant interest in shorting the Bitcoin futures by the "big guys" on Wall Street. There's quite a bit of doubt and negativity around Bitcoin from some of the significant names in the traditional finance world, and they will now have the chance to bet the price of Bitcoin down with a cash-settled product.

I think they underestimate the beast. Its a digital organism. Like no other stock in history.

It's definitely a different beast, but Bitcoin has also never dealt with the big guys on Wall Street before either. I'm super curious to see how it will shake out

Diante desse fato já podemos esperar mais uma alta histórica do preço do Bitcoin!

Nobody knows it's the wild west.

It's just days before the next forks, given Bitcoin's already high interest, Bitcoin's move can really be interesting.

After the huge interest this week, the run up for BTC, LTC and ETH (coinbase, anyone?), and then the huge drop off yesterday - I’m wondering how the massive amount of newbz testing the waters for the first time have reacted to the full spectrum of emotions we know to be par for the course? With everything red yesterday - was that average joe checking out of the craziness? moving to fiat? Something else? I’m can’t think it was a coincidence- but not enough experience on my part to know...

The anticipation is very REAL , I honestly believe they will short the bitcoin price tremendously on purpose to try to manipulate the price . That’s why it’s our job as holders to stick to our price and not let future predictions dictate it . We the people give bitcoin its true value not Wall Street ! Only time will tell , Thanks for this educational content !

Whatever may be the consequence of this event, one thing is sure to happen: more exposure in mainstream media will help increase adoption of crypto.
