The Future of Bitcoin
Technology can change so much over the course of nine years. In the world of Bitcoin, there has been changes as well. There are a lot more changes coming, we are still in the early stages of cryptocurrency and adoption. Just like with other technologies adoption will increase at a rapid rate. There has been a lot of bad news surrounding Bitcoin but it will not end here, Bitcoin has just begun.
Compared to where it was nine years ago Bitcoin has evolved in amazing ways. The currency has come a long way since the initial release. Bitcoin started out as a niche project and ended up the world’s leading cryptocurrency . Also, cryptocurrency is now a movement and phenomenon that can’t be ignored.
Last year financial institutions and large companies started to show interest. Also, some institutions entered into the world of Bitcoin though access to Bitcoin futures. There has been public acknowledgement from institutions that Bitcoin is a threat to their business model. Bitcoin has also been getting an increasing amount of news coverage. All of combined shows that the best is yet to come for Bitcoin. Right now, there is to much focus on the price of Bitcoin price, we need to think more about the big picture.
Bitcoin will gain adoption just like any other technology. Cryptocurrency is also maturing as a technology. Scaling is becoming less of an issue with the adoption of SegWit. Add the beta Lightning Network release and scaling problems will start to diminish rapidly. Also, Rootstock is nearing completion, this project will bring smart contracts to the Bitcoin network.
The past year we have seen the public perception and knowledge of bitcoin. People are aware how Bitcoin can be a part of everyday life relatively easily. Bitcoin is still the early stage of development, and there will be a lot of changes in the coming years.
