Trump's Position

The US administration of President Donald Trump announced that will impose new sanctions on Russia in relation to the interference suffered by Russian in the 2016 presidential elections by Russian agents.

Both the interference of Russia and the contacts of the Russian government with the Trump electoral committee are the subject of the investigation by the special prosecutor Robert Mueller, which has been going on for several months and which has already led to the indictment of some Trump employees.

Sanctions

The sanctions announced by the United States will cover five Russian organizations and 19 people, mostly oligarchs close to President Putin. Among the affected organizations are the FBS and the GRU, two intelligence agencies that have long been accused of being involved in attempts to intervene in various foreign elections in recent years.
