Technically they are almost identical. BTC have segwit, BCH have 8Mb blocks, but advantages&disadvantages of both aren't clear yet. Therefore they should have more or less identical price. And so they went to war. Potentially very dangerous war, as both may go down in flames, taking the whole cryptomarket with them.

P.S. And BCH isn't "young cryptocurrency". It's as old as Bitcoin.
