Cryptocurrency seems to have taken over the world in the past 18 months or so, and, unsurprisingly, a number of celebrities have jumped on the Bitcoin bandwagon too. Here are seven celebrities who are advocates of digital currency:
▪️1. Ashton Kutcher
Actor Kutcher is known for his various investments in technology firms, and this interest also extends to cryptocurrency. At a TechCrunch conference, he spoke of his belief that Bitcoin could be used for ‘mass good’ in future.
▪️2. Jamie Foxx
Foxx, who won an Oscar for portraying Ray Charles in Ray back in 2004, made the news earlier this year when he tweeted about Cobinhood, a cryptocurrency trading exchange which aimed to take advantage of the rise in popularity of crypto trading.
▪️3. DJ Khaled
The hit-maker posted a picture of himself with a Centra card in October 2017, to promote the digital wallet app. Since then, the company has run into a number of problems, and Khaled has ended his affiliation with the brand and removed the post.
▪️4. Floyd Mayweather
The man viewed by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer in history has also been involved with Centra. Last year, he asked Facebook users to invest in Centra Token, a new cryptocurrency. Again, the company has run into trouble and now faces a class-action lawsuit.
▪️5. Mike Tyson
The former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world has started his own company, Mike Tyson Bitcoin. The venture offers users trading opportunities, digital wallets and even a Bitcoin ATM, with the official statement for the app’s release saying “In a few years from now Bitcoin and other digital currency are going to be a normal part of our monetary systems.”
▪️6. Paris Hilton
Hilton, a well-known socialite who is heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune, backed the ICO for LydianCoin. The tweet has since been deleted after the CEO of the company admitted to assaulting his girlfriend.
