New Features of HODLER Wallet: SegWit Addresses & Lightning Network
HODLER is a company dedicated to developing cryptocurrency wallets suited for the needs of everyone, which is why our goal is to constantly add support for as large number of coins as possible. But there is one cryptocurrency that we consider a priority: Bitcoin, the first and the most popular of them all. That is why at HODLER we focus to keep up with Bitcoin’s rapid development.
We are glad to announce that HODLER wallet now supports SegWit addresses. SegWit, or Segregated Witness, is an alternative transaction format of Bitcoin. The technical details of SegWit would be hard to explain to anyone without a deep comprehension of blockchain technology, but the practical improvements that SegWit introduces are simple: by changing the way in which information is stored on the blockchain, it allows for a reduced transaction size, and therefore also reduced fee and increased transaction speed. To put it as simple as it gets: SegWit addresses enable bitcoin users to make cheaper and faster transactions.
Don’t trust, verify: here you can check the first ever SegWit transaction sent from HODLER: https://chain.so/tx/BTC/23133cff56006ba30a9c387fba7417ad39b85e57a344d7c57630d37fb0b8d57e
Bitcoin is a vivid, constantly developing currency. We are glad to partake in this development by implementing in HODLER all of the improvements that can benefit our users. Adding support for SegWit allows us to continue this line of work, and in particular will enable us to add Lightning Network support in the future: a peer-to-peer second layer solution for making Bitcoin micropayments, that allows the users to send transactions as fast and cheap as possible.
As always, we would like to thank our community for their constant support and feedback. The community is what guides us to develop HODLER into a multicurrency wallet perfectly tailored to suit the needs of users.
