Major Concerns with RX 470 Mining Edition Graphics Cards
At first glance, the newly announced RX 470 Mining Edition Graphics Cards have some major potential problems. The RX 470 version of the Mining Edition graphics cards range in price from $341.50 to $284.40 based on the pre-order options available at Overclockers UK.
Major Concerns:
- Price
- Mining Efficiency
- Warranty Length
- Resale Value
- Availability
Price:
The mining edition RX 470s ($284-$341.50) are more expensive than a normal RX 470 (if you can actually find it). This seems like a huge drawback unless the power consumption is much lower or the hash rate is higher than currently assumed. Even at currently inflated prices, vendors are currently selling (when available) brand new Samsung Memory RX 470 versions for $259 and the Non-Samsung Memory version for $249.
Mining Efficiency:
The first reported hash rates for these cards between 23-28 MH/s for ETH with the 4 GB non-Samsung memory version on the lower end and the 8GB Samsun
