Dish will accept Bitcoin Cash.
Dish will accept Bitcoin Cash.
Dish Network, one of the first major companies to accept Bitcoin as a payment method, announced that it has now accepted Bitcoin Cash.
The support for payments in Bitcoin Cash comes four years after the US subscription TV provider decided in 2014 to accept Bitcoin. At the time, it was one of the largest companies that accepted Bitcoin as a payment method. At the time, the company had 14 million customers.
Dish customers can now use both crypto currencies to pay for their monthly subscriptions or for individual films.
According to the press release, customers can pay the exact amount in Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash either on the website or through the set-top box.
"We added Bitcoin Cash because we chose to accept Bitcoin to help customers find a new path to business leadership," said John Swieringa vice vice president of the company in the press release.
In addition, the company announced that Dish will change its crypto processor. Now the subscription provider will use BitPay. This should offer more "choice and comfort" for the customers.
BitPay is one of the largest crypto currency payment providers. In April, it received $ 40 million in a round of financing.
Sony Singh of BitPay explained:
"Cryptocurrencies are becoming an increasingly popular way for consumers to make purchases online because they reduce credit and card fraud and are cheaper for providers."
