Bitcoins Sidechain is Live and Already has 60% of Network

in #bitcoin6 years ago

After 3 years Blocktream finally launched their BTC sidechain called Liquid.

It is created for high-volume traders and exchanges to use as a high-liquidity network between each other and right after launch a few already signed up for it.

Currently, company's CEO claims they have 60% of all TXIDs on the network due to this liquidity exchange between each of the parties.

This is a huge step for big trades and security of books as well as Bitcoin itself and its incoming sidechains.

You can become beta user and join the network for free but there is not too much info about how to actually use it.

Whats the gamechanger here? I assume arbitrage will be killed on BTC soon if more companies join.

Keep in mind that BitMex is leverage only.

Now that the price is stabilized, real progress is being made in the crypto space! We will be better prepared for the next wave to a 100k bitcoin lol !! :)))

Great news. Some complain it's federated. Seems fine to me in this situation.
I read today Temco is going to do its ICO on a RSK sidechain.
Sounds great, but I'll believe it when I see it.

The federated part isn't that bad. You can verify if they are pegging it right. They can't make any fake bitcoins(unless it a major bug but it be a blockchain bug which mostly likely affects bitcoin as well).
The federated part is only temporary until a trustless soft fork peg can be made. Drivechain one of those pegs is in test net right now so that cool :)

It free for everyone(just pay the tx fee). The subscription fees you been hearing about are for the maintenance of the boxes -blockstream made. Blockstream can't monetize the chain directly.

Can you sign up for bitcoin?
Just need a wallet and your ready to go and use. No newbie/easy wallet is made yet but that coming soon from what I read

teach me to signup ;)

Would certainly try Bitmex for arbitrage. Its a good idea
