SURVEY: BITCOIN Investors expecting even BIGGER RETURNS in 2018

Most U.S bitcoin investors are expecting the cryptocurrency to perform even better next year than this year's seventeen-fold appreciation, according to a newly published survey.

LendEDU, a digital student loan startup which has now published four surveys asking various questions about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, asked 565 Americans between Nov. 9 and Nov. 13, 2017. They found that approximately 77% of participants believe bitcoin's price will grow even more quickly in 2018 than it did in 2017, an exciting prospect for those holding the cryptocurrency.

While bitcoin started the year at just below $1,000, it was trading at more than $16,500 with highs above $18,000 as of December 15th. As a result of this nearly 75% of investors plan to increase the size of their investments in bitcoin next year, with less than 10% not planning to add to their bitcoin investment, the LendEDU survey found.

To borrow a term used from the trading stocks, “market sentiment” is very positive at the moment. The market for bitcoin is largely traded by so-called “retail investors” who are hugely influenced by market sentiment and news headlines. Subsequently this serves as a strong indicator that a continued bull run is more likely than not as these retail investors ride the wave of good sentiment and want to get into the crypto space with the promise of strong performance and therefore great returns.
