I started my own bitcoin mining rig a couple years ago, before all these shared platforms existed. It was tough then and I still think it is tough now, except when we go through times of exuberance, we are in one now so mining is very profitable, but difficult for it to last. Over the long term I think it will be good though, just not as good as right now.
