There were a few reports of device-related commands failing, mostly at the import screen. Each ledger wallet contains two USB endpoints, and the latest released version of HIDAPI (the library providing cross-platform USB abstraction) doesn’t distinguish between the two.
In effect, HIDAPI asks for the Ledger device but leaves it up to OSX to decide which endpoint to return, which it got wrong about 50% of the time. The issue is fixed in the latest HIDAPI code but it’s not been released (the last release was in 2013). The fix was to use the latest HIDAPI code vs the last release.
In other words, you shouldn’t have any issue anymore when trying to use your Ledger hardware device on MacOS. If you haven’t already done so, take this opportunity to increase the security of your staking setup by connecting your Ledger wallet to a cold staking node. This process will make your staking funds safe, even when transacting them from an infected or compromised computer.
