Solve the puzzle and win 1BTC.

in #bitcoin6 years ago

The image above contains everything you will need to solve this puzzle. It emerged in the Bitcoin subreddit as a post roughly 4 hours ago (at the time of writing this post). The original poster used a new account and as a "hint" he left this message in the comment section:

This work is comprised of Satoshi Nakamoto's famous whitepaper words, scaled by Log N. Disparate ideas inspired Satoshi to create a solution to revolutionize modern socio-economics and industry. The work reflects on the elements that brought this technology to life, and challenges the underlying security model. Hidden in plain sight lies something more: a treasure hunt. 1 BTC is concealed within the work.

The only real hit was a reply to a comment stating:

There are 239 BIP39 seed words in that picture.

The reply reads:

You can throw at least half of those out. This is clue #1.

So far no one has been able to come close to cracking this cipher. If you have some ideas you can share them in the comments below.

I will try to keep the post updated if new hints get released from the original poster.

Happy treasure hunting!

Why is there a small rectangle with a cross in it just next to the lower right part of the B?

This is part of the puzzle and is referred in one of the clues:
"To triumph, one must look within. To infinity, and beyond. When you are close to home, X marks the spot."

Awesome puzzle! But it is not as simple as just find the recovery phrase or the private key.

The Public Address ( 3CcxyPhyvyc3S9UuPfu42GNZLvVVV11Uk8 ) starts with 3. That means this is a multi signature address.

That means you need at least 2 out of 3 private keys to sign the Transaction.

No it's a segwit address. BIP39 seed words -> BIP49 derivation.

Why would anyone do this? There's a "why" here that isn't being asked.

@phrequenc No why would they put up 1BTC as a rat race for the general public...the motive behind why this "sweepstakes" exists is unknown is what I mean. Why people would want it is easy to understand hahah ;)

Just another form of marketing. I am sure no one will solve this one.

It just sounds like a total scam to me.

Marketing. OP sells cards and posters.

So what does one need to do to crack this? Get the secure recovery phrase for the wallet containing the 1 btc?

That should be the goal but then again, it could be something else.

when he says "you can throw at least half away" I think he implies the answer is inside the white circle and when he says "is hidden in plain face" I think the answer is inside the orange colored BTC sign

anyone tried generating public keys from these words with a script? when there's a match the matching private key is the winner.

That would require brute force breaking and that can take months

I've just seen this puzzle in another post. The seed phrase was the first thing I thought of. Let's wait for more clues.

Yeah, that is the only thing that makes sense.

i see the word far too
