Redesigning Litecoin Core with Lightning capabilities.
The Core wallet software for Litecoin, Bitcoin and Vertcoin to name a few who use it’s structure and feature rich capabilities has changed very little since its inception as Qt back in 2009 with the original launch of Bitcoin.
Many multiple functions have been added over the years fleshing out and improving on the core software along with a few graphical improvements being added here and there but overall the format has held fast in other words, “if it’s not broken don't fix it”. However i think we can do better, by simplifying the structure we can improve layman usability and create space by identifying redundant aspects of the current layout. Lets start with the splash screen, the large logo off screen is ugly and encroaches on the text so lets shrink it and pull everything else in line. Lets also add a section next to it while the wallet loads to inform the user of what is new in the latest build they are using, passively informing those who don't read the release notes:
The final page is transactions which now shows a greater amount of information in the same space as the current design:
- Transaction types are now “From:” as to “Received with” etc.
- Plus and minus signs next have been added next to amounts.
- Conversions of how much was sent/received in the users local currency at that specific date/time are now available
- Confirmation icons now differentiate between Lightning payments and mainnet transactions.
- Confirmation icons are now rounded rectangles that fill up with each network confirmation
- A new pending header for incoming/outgoing mainnet transactions
- Numbers next to headers to indicate the number of total confirmed and pending transactions made to and from the wallet.
- The right click on transactions has now been moved to a drop down button along side each transaction
