Overview: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is a cryptocurrency coin that became into being after a hard fork off the Bitcoin (BTC) blockchain in October 2017. Bitcoin Gold’s main difference from BTC or BCH comes to its mining capabilities. Instead of utilizing SHA356 algorithm, Bitcoin Gold uses Equihash which allows for equality amongst miners. In other words, specialty equipment that gives large miners an edge in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash mining are not available for BTG. The cryptocurrency also has replay protection in order to protect users and comes with unique wallet addresses.
