Useful Links For Buying, Holding and Spending Crytpocurrencies
First of all, this post is a work in progress
and exists as much to remind me of what I am working on and as a sort of scratch pad to hold new ideas and information. These reference links will eventually be like a bibliography/index that links back and forth to just about everything important I put onto steemit about cryptocurrencies. I do this for my group and the general public here.Bear with the disjointed mess here - it will get more detailed, elaborate and logical as time passes. I will notify you guys when major or important changes happen here. I endeavor to make sure this page is extra-primo-good for everyone.
Safety is of prime importance
Bitcoin is cash so it needs to be handled accordingly. Below are some useful links to help you get started investing, buying and saving your cryptocurrencies. It is a good reference for basic functionality in this space that is reviewed, experienced first hand (unless otherwise noted) and found to be reliable and safe.
Browser Safety
The MyEtherWallet web site is concerned with you knowing you are on the correct site to the extreme. They don't want you to get scammed is all. So obviously you need to be careful when moving things around in your ETH wallets. This is true on steroids when using Chrome. I have found a few nifty tools you might want to add to your browser listed below.
I found this chrome extension during my research for a better solution to the Trezor for my ETH holdings. It's called Metacert and I love it because it tells me if the exchanges, wallets and web sites I go to are safe. I am still tracking down the actual link to the extension, but I installed it a few days ago and LOVE it.
MeteCert 'MetaCert is home to the world’s biggest index of classified URLs used to protect companies from malicious attacks and undesirable web content that’s not safe for work. Our index is broken into 65 categories. The ones we care most about are Malware & Phishing, Pornography and Fake News. The index is more than 10 billion URIs in size and the lowest error rate of false positives at just 0.3%.'
MetaCert’s threat intelligence system has 'the ability to classify social media accounts and folders on websites that contain user-generated content'. 'At the heart of all' (their) 'products, is the World’s most advanced web crawlers and URL Classification platform.'
myethaddreeslookup is a chrome extension that will safely take you to your myetherwallet, which is what I would suggest you use to store your ETH and other tokens.. I found it much easier to use than MetaMask, but it still requires you to log into the MyEtherallet site.
Passwords
In short - don't be foolish, get a password manager and USE it.....YESTERDAY! I'm actively searching for a biometric solution to eliminate the need for all of it. I use Lastpass More on that later. Trezor also has a password manager that I am going to try out. WHat is Trezor?
Trezor is a secure hardware wallet that I use myself. This is a good place to store your BTC and a few other crypto's for longer term storage and or cold storage. Remember never to put more than 2 BTC in any wallet and make sure to never use the same addresses for any transactions.
There is a new Trezor shipping soon.

Can't wait to get my hands on mine!
Paper wallets are the most secure if done properly. But then you have the physical concerns of damage and theft.
The most secure of all is a brain wallet. Memorize your seed phrases and keep no physical records at all....I think I will stick with paper wallets and my Trezor and Ledger. I have a hard time remembering where I put my keys!
There are also more hardware wallets I am investigating. ANy new one's you know of let me know in the comments below.
