LLAMEMOS LAS COSAS POR SU NOMBRE - LET'S CALL THINGS BY THEIR NAME

He dejado para el día de hoy un tema que es algo complicado, bueno, por lo menos para mí, y estoy casi segura que para otras personas también no es nada fácil pero es por el lenguaje que se utiliza, repito, no somos nativos digitales para estar familiarizados, salvo aquellas personas que bien por su actividad económica, profesional, académica o laboral si lo están.

Hay términos que son utilizados con su acrónimo pero en inglés, es decir un grupo de palabras de las cuales toman sus iniciales, así por ejemplo tenemos GNU que se toma de las palabras en inglés "GNU's Not Unix" lo que equivale en español, GNU no es Unix (algunas veces coinciden las primeras letras de las palabras en inglés con el español). Su creador, Richard Stallman lo concibió con la finalidad de migrar de Unix a GNU manteniendo la compatibilidad entre ellos, solo que GNU es un software libre.

Hoy en día el software libre que es utilizado, pues te da la total libertad de su uso, sin tener que pagar por una licencia. Cabe destacar que, por ser un desarrollo para el beneficio común, al modificarlo lo único que se pide es compartir lo modificado. Según Stallman, el sistema operativo GNU es un medio técnico para un fin social.

Otra sigla que estaremos viendo con mucha frecuencia es FPGA que significa en español, matriz de puertas programables del inglés field-programmable gate array. Según Wikipedia es un dispositivo programable que contiene bloques de lógica cuya interconexión y funcionalidad puede ser configurada en el momento mediante un lenguaje de descripción especializado. La lógica programable puede reproducir desde funciones tan sencillas como las llevadas a cabo por una puerta lógica o un sistema combinacional hasta complejos sistemas en un chip. Hay que aclarar, lo que muchos erróneamente han adoptado como significado de las siglas CPU, estas no significan computadora, ordenador o equipo de computación, estas siglas vienen del inglés Central Processing Unit que en español se traduce como Unidad de Procesamiento Central, no es más que la parte central de toda computadora ya que es la que cumple la tarea de procesamiento de todas las funciones así como también de almacenamiento de la información. Es un circuito electrónico que ha existido desde siempre en las computadoras sin importar su modelo y es por eso que es considerado uno de los elementos básicos de cualquier computador. Tenemos dentro de la computadora además del CPU, el GPU, que es el acrónimo de Graphics Processing Unit, en español Unidad de procesamiento de gráficos. Es la parte del equipo que permite el despliegue de los gráficos y que nosotros percibimos como efectos visuales, y para procesarlos utiliza el sistema de computo, se encuentra dentro del CPU, Fuente: http://culturacion.com/que-es-el-gpu-y-cual-es-su-funcion/. Una última palabra que necesitamos conocer es el HASH que no se deriva de acrónimo alguno.

El Hash entre las funciones más conocidas se utiliza en la minería de Bitcoins y para generar los códigos de seguridad (claves públicas y privadas) de las Wallet. Su significado en español es resumen criptográfico y con estas funciones se forman largos números alfanuméricos en altas y bajas, con una longitud fija. Bueno, hasta aquí les dejo el tema de la terminología. Pero, ¿Dónde radica su importancia?, pues bien, con buenos procesadores gráficos se puede realizar la tarea del minado con mayor eficiencia, sin gasto excesivo de energía eléctrica, son más rápidos al momento de generar los cómputos necesarios en este proceso. No podemos pasar por alto que el sistema utilizado está basado en GNU, es decir en software libre y que nuestra computadora no es el CPU, sino que este forma parte de la computadora, pero además que la FPGA son dispositivos que nos pueden permitir el minado y el HASH es el algoritmo que también nos permite la generación de criptomonedas y claves entre otros.

I have left for today a topic that is somewhat complicated, well, at least for me, and I am almost sure that for other people it is not easy either but it is because of the language that is used, I repeat, we are not digital natives to be familiar, except for those people who either because of their economic, professional, academic or work activity if they are.

There are terms that are used with their acronym but in English, that is, a group of words from which they take their initials, so for example we have GNU that is taken from the English words "GNU's Not Unix" which is equivalent in Spanish, GNU it is not Unix (sometimes the first letters of the words in English coincide with Spanish). Well, so far I leave the subject of terminology. But, where is its importance ?, well, with good graphics processors can perform the mining task with greater efficiency, without excessive expenditure of electricity, are faster at the time of generating the necessary computations in this process.
