The win.win project: unofficial AMA session on Discord with 'Edwin Terek'

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

Last week saw a lot of discussion on discord channel with Edwin Terek, one of the founders of the win.win project, regarding current stage of win.win project, falling TWINS prices and the future prospects. This session gave us a very good insight into the project, and how team is planning to work on this.

Edwin was kind enough to answer all the questions community members threw at him. In this article I am summarizing some of the Q & A for the better understanding and ready availability in future for the community.

Q. When we can expect the alpha or beta release of the Dex?
A. We are very far away from developing the DEX. There are multiple reasons for this. We can only start developing the actual service once we have:

  1. Successfully migrated to Catapult, but this technology has not yet been released nor tested. We hope to get it done by the end of the year.
  2. We need to attract brilliant minds to solve some cross chain decentralized atomic swaps scalability, speed and security issues, but we need budget for these academic researches.
  3. Even if we had the technology ready today, the service would have no users and no liquidity. This requires massive marketing efforts that required enormous budget, or access to a popular wallet. This one we can do and you all can see the progress.
  4. The true independent dex is a huge threat to all the centralized exchanges. Our network must be mature not just in decentralization and secure, but also grow in value so it would be too expensive to break or take over, even for the biggest players.

Q. Regarding point 2 and 4 in the above statement, would not you say we are relying too much on external factors; specially in point 4 you wrote about 'growth in value' but this is not in our hand. that's market to decide. There are many projects in crypto space which delivered what they promised to start with but they do not have much in terms of value, if that happens how we are supposed to solve that?
A. Many things are is still unclear, and we do not know how we are going to solve everything in details. This is very new and dynamic industry that is changing very quickly. Low value is just one of the risks, but how about security, regulations, scalability or competition? We know that we are definitely going to meet challenges in our journey, but is this a reason to gave up?

Q. What is the team doing for the falling prices of TWINS? When we can expect the marketing effort from the team?
A. We understand that some people are here to make quick profit and this is their right and their choice, but that’s not why we are here. We make no empty promises and do not ask for investments. In fact, we are agains advertising or trying to attract investors, as this project must grow as independent, community-driven eco-system, where people are earning TWINS by contributing their knowledge, and this is where we are focused right now - building the required infrastructure where new and valuable community members can engage and thrive. However, making things right takes time.

Q. You have mentioned that originally you are against advertising, right? But you have also mentioned in the TWINS recent report about- "project visibility, communications and PR, TWINS coin acceptance and usability, development of strategic partnerships" in stage 2. so how we are going to achieve these things without advertising ?
A. It is important to make sure we all understand our views and way of thinking on this matter, as we have noticed that our messages have been misinterpreted. We have no plans to launch marketing campaign for the TWINS cryptocurrency with the goal to attract investors. We will only advertise win.win as platform when it will be ready, with the goal to attract and convert traffic into actual users. We will do PR about the project with the goal to attract brilliant minds to help us solve challenges when the time is right.
We will maintain marketing and PR campaigns to expose the Source Force with the goal to attract enthusiasts and convert them into contributors and followers. We will maintain campaigns for FIX Network to attract early adopters and covert them into active users. We will maintain campaigns for Wallet app to gain market share.

Q. Still nothing stopping community members making their own efforts to further the reach of the project, right?
A. Of course, community members are free to make their own efforts, and these are very valuable. We understand that at this early stage it is still unclear what each of you can do to help, but in fact you are all already helping much more than we have expected initially. Just as example, I have a meeting tomorrow morning with a member who decided to initiate the white paper writing for the project, something we do not consider as a priority for the moment, but of course, we will support it and provide all the information we have.

Q. You are not interested in attracting investors early on, that's a good thing, but how does team intend to sustain itself since we had no ICO or pre-sale? We also plan to attract more talent as need arise, how you plan to reward them. Will Dev fund be sufficient for this purpose ?
A. We (the team) have other and solid source of income to feed our families and pay office rents. We are all here to fix few things first.
Our goal is to attract people who share our vision and values, and who will invest their experience, knowledge and time to be part of the community who made this happen. The dev fund will be used to award their efforts.
