The first cryptocurrency airport is coming #Bitcoin

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Cryptocurrency seems to divide the world into two camps. There are countries that want to get rid of the digital currency and sometimes even prohibit it and apparently there are also countries that receive cryptocurrency with open arms and want to incorporate it into daily life. Australia appears to fall under the last category. The airport in Brisbane (BNE) will soon be transformed into the first cryptocurrency airport on earth.

Brisbane city from the cryptocurrency
The Brisbane airport works together with the start-up Travelbybit to implement the cryptocurrency payment system. Via Travelbybit, travelers will be able to pay at the airport with, among others, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dash. Travelbybit has already been busy in Brisbane with the integration of cryptocurrency in daily life. The company has already created a small network of sales points in the city, where you can pay with your digital coins. More than 20 stores would already accept cryptocurrency as a means of payment.

Airfield logical place for cryptocurrency
Roel Hellemons, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) General Manager Strategic Planning and Development indicates that they are proud to be the first cryptocurrency airport in the world in collaboration with a small and local company such as Travelbybit.

It would also only be the beginning of cryptocurrency in this sector. In itself, the travel sector is of course an ideal place to use cryptocurrency. Although we can pay in the EU with euros, you still have to get other money when you travel to countries outside the EU. And you know that you are always in some way scammed when you exchange money or pay with your card. But if you can just pay with your bitcoins, it's a lot easier and you do not have to be difficult to do.

Times are changing and who knows what airports will look like in the near future. Brisbane makes a start with cryptocurrency payments and LG seems to want to populate airports with robots. Earlier, the tech giant unveiled the Airport Guide Robot to tell people where to go. During CES 2018 the company unveiled even more robots to work at airports.
