EVER HEARD OF BITMEX?

Yup, thats right, BITMEX a.k.a the Bitcoin Mercantile Exchange is a derivatives-focussed crypto exchange which offers futures contracts and swaps on major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Monero, Litecoin, Tezos, Z Cash etc. Leverage offered maxes out at 100x on pairs such as the Bitcoin/USD (XBT/USD). Bitmex is one of the largest exchanges globally in the cryptocurrency space when measured in terms of trading volume (in the billions!).

WHO BUILT IT?

The platform was the brainchild of Arthur Hayes, a former derivatives trader at a major investment bank in Hong Kong, who upon discovering cryptocurrencies, quickly recognized the need for derivative products which could enable a seamless trading experience, whether it be for hedging, leveraged intraday trading, or arbitrage.

WHO'S IT FOR?

Let me be clear, BITMEX is an advanced crypto trading platform in comparison to most if not all other crypto exchanges. It was built by traders FOR traders. If you've never traded derivatives (options, futures, swaps), it would be in your best interest to try out their simulated trading testnet environment, in order to get a feel for the platform, and thereby, better utilize the platform's functionality. Pay close attention to the introductory material offered which describes the trading contracts offered, the funding system for swaps, and more importantly, the section on how margin is calculated when using leverage. I cannot stress this part enough. It goes without saying, that when used correctly, leverage when deployed by savvy traders can greatly enhance returns.
