BitShares: OLbreach - avoid using OpenLedger nodes

in #bitshares6 years ago

Until it's clear how much damage was done to OL, it's best to avoid OpenLedger nodes to interact with the Blockchain.

Note: your account is save, but OL nodes could be compromised, showing you wrong or fake data

How-to

  • Go to Settings > Nodes, disable "Automatically select nodes"
  • Select a node that's not openledger

You're good now.

Make sure to check the node every time you re-open the wallet to be sure!

This applies even when using https://wallet.bitshares.org/ ?

a compromised node could show you wrong pricefeeds for example, that's backend. so could happen on any wallet

Some time ago I just choose to "Hide" all the OL nodes and it works like charm.

Its good information, thanks @ash its useful for me.

Do you know the day that the OpenLedger nodes were compromised?

not exactly. my guess is since 24-48 hours

How to distinguish between nodes of OL and not ?

Dear All, I sympathize with those users who were affected by the recent hosting provider’s account breach. Though it wasn’t our fault that credentials of some OpenLedger DEX wallets were stolen, resulting in lost crypto assets, I couldn’t stay still. Starting from July 2, our trading platform will launch the Reimbursement Program for such users.
