Welcome to the 83rd Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. A weekly report focusing on the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.

The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.

Observation from this week

This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.

• @fox has announced the release of testnet 2.0.180510 this week. This new testnet version has a hardfork flag date coded for Saturday, 19 May 2018 13:58:00 UTC. This new release includes 12 BSIPs, 6 consensus impacting bug fixes and many additional enhancements which are detailed HERE. • This week within a single 24hr period, BitShares mainnet broke is old record by processing 1,598,882 transactions, which averages to roughly 18.5 transactions per second (TPS). Currently, the BitShares blockchain ranks second behind Steem, which holds the record for 2,068,341 transactions within 24 hours (23.9 TPS).

• A new version of the Bitshares reference wallet has been released this week. Bitshares-UI Version 2.0.180512 has been released this week. This update contains some new features and some bug fixes. Find the change log and download for the new wallet HERE

• @Stan Larimer and @Michaelx Taggart have been working with Sean Worthington the founder of Cloudcoin in relation to synergies between Cloudcoin and the Bitshares blockchain. Checkout the interview between Connie, Stan and Sean HERE

• @steempowerpics has dug into the archive this week and presented a Beyond Bitcoin session hosted by @officialfuzzy with @Dan Larimer as the guest speaker; This audio is from 4 years ago (May 3rd 2014) when the launch of the Bitshares XT blockchain testnet was just getting started. For those that don't know these early hangouts Dan Larimer would give weekly updates to the community in a town hall style discussion that would allow for anyone to connect up and ask questions related to the project.
