Government & Corporate Uses for Blockchain
Intelligent Vehicle Communication Using Blockchain (1)
Last year, researchers from the Yonsei Institute of Convergence Technology in Seoul, South Korea unveiled a proposed system for intelligent vehicle communication that creates a blockchain network for intelligent automotive vehicles.
Under their proposed system automobiles and other vehicles would all be issued an encrypted unique number, a “crypto ID” called an Intelligent Vehicles-Trust Point (IV-TP). An IV-TP would be issued to every intelligent vehicle and vehicles would broadcast their IV-TP crypto ID to build trust in the vehicular network. Using this system, one can get the complete history of vehicles (accident history, condition of IV, crime history, etc.).
There would be a validation process much like during bitcoin mining, however, this would be based on Proof of Driving (PoD) algorithm. PoD provides “evidence that the vehicles are legal and are running in the same network shared by the approved vehicles at the communication time.” If in future, owners want to sell or change vehicles, then they would have to access their complete data history via the “vehicular cloud.”
Identity Management Using Blockchain (2)
The investigation of alternative approaches to IdM is being led by initiatives that seek to expand the trustworthiness and reach of digital forms of identity. The United States’ National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) aims to accelerate the development of novel technologies that can increase trust in online transactions. Also, ID2020 seeks to leverage emerging digital technologies.

Abstract: The Intelligent vehicle (IV) is experiencing revolutionary growth in research and industry, but it still suffers from many security vulnerabilities. Traditional security methods are incapable to provide secure IV communication. The major issues in IV communication are trust, data accuracy and reliability of communication data in the communication channel. Blockchain technology works for the crypto currency, Bit-coin, which is recently used to build trust and reliability in peer-to-peer networks having similar topologies as IV Communication. In this paper, we introduce an Intelligent Vehicle- Trust Point (IV-TP) mechanism for IV communication among IVs using Blockchain technology. The IVs communicated data provides security and reliability using our proposed IV-TP. This IV-TP mechanism introduced i n the paper provides trustworthiness for vehicles behavior, and vehicles legal and illegal action. The introduced reward-based system is an exchange of some IV-TP among IVs, during successful communication.

Abstract: The emergence of distributed ledger technology (DLT) based upon a blockchain data structure, has given rise to new approaches to identity management that aim to upend dominant approaches to providing and consuming digital identities. These new approaches to identity management (IdM) propose to enhance decentralization, transparency and user control in transactions that involve identity information; but, given the historical challenge to design IdM, can these new DLT-based schemes deliver on their lofty goals? We introduce the emerging landscape of DLT-based IdM, and evaluate three representative proposals: uPort; ShoCard; and Sovrin; using the analytic lens of a seminal framework that characterises the nature of successful IdM schemes.
