Skynet And The Internet Of Things Devices on the Blockchain
About the project
Skynet is a promising and ambitious project that aims to take the link between blockchain technology and Internet of Things devices to the next level, by launching the first blockchain IoT chip for easy deployment. The Skynet was initiated by the OpenSingularity Foundation, a non-profit organisation located in Singapore. The vision of OpenSingularity is to create an intelligent machine economy where devices can transfer knowledge, learn, and communicate with one another without human intervention or any centralised control.
Some of the potential applications of Skynet on Blockchain IoT devices are self-driving cars, soft robots, blockchain smartphones, blockchain wearables, smart cities, connected cameras and more. These smart devices will have the intelligence to act on a person’s behalf to improve the quality of our lives.
Skynet Core
Within the platform, Skynet Core is that one thing at the heart of Skynet which aims to remove the barrier of modern processors with its advanced cores designed to accelerate deep learning applications over blockchain networks. Therefore, any Internet of Things devices, like robots, sensors or drones will have more advanced neural networks and human-scale intelligence.
Here are some of the features of Skynet Core:
- Accelerated Matrix Multiplication
- Brain on Chip System
- Parallel Training
- Highly Customizable
Skynet Open Network and goals
Skynet Open Network, or SON, states to be the fourth generation of the Internet of Things blockchain. SON will also allow and facilitate transactions between different intelligent devices.
Moreover, billions of Skynet Cores will be deployed to devices across the world and come with SON's native cryptocurrencies, making the Skynet Open Network the most adopted blockchain network and eventually providing the infrastructure for an intelligent planet. SON will achieve this target through the following:
- Anarchic Scalability: due to the evolving chaotic nature of Internet of Things and the complexity of IoT.
- Separation of Duties: allowing multiple and different blockchains to be created with different use cases
- Portable: should be able to be used in small devices such as sensors; enabling smaller devices with lower power and memory to participate in the consensus while allowing more-capable devices to run full nodes.
- User-friendly: SON will need to have a simple, user-friendly design where blockchain and smart contracts on SON should be created easily in any language and with minimum validator nodes.
Token Sale
SON is a flexible, ERC20-compliant token that swaps over to all the tokens on the Skynet Open Network, the scalable Internet of Things platform. At the moment, what we know is that a total of 1,000,000,000,000 SON Tokens will be available. The dates for the two ICO stages will be announced soon. Meanwhile, if you’re curious to see how tokens will be distributed, see the list below:
- 55% Distribution Through Skynet Cores
- 20% Token Sale
- 10% Foundation
- 8% OpenSingularity Team
- 6% OEM and SDK Developers
- 1% Bounty and Legal
