FILE SHARING SYSTEM AND DATA THEFT. "DACC A VIABLE SOLUTION"
Sales of audiovisual content and rentals have been the major source of revenue for recording/music and and film industry before 1999. During this period, the cost of buying a music album seem to be high as the production cost is also high. Majority of the musicians only make money through their local fans because of low international recognition. At this time, the level of piracy is not minimal. Although, there were rules and guidelines in some countries for rental services while some countries does not have. During this period, both content, recording and music industry are suffering from piracy with the knowledge of the percentage lost not known. Typical example is the case of a customer who rent a content and further rerent or lend it out to another person. Several people benefited from this system without paying a penny to the original source in some developing countries.
The content, recording and music industry have witnessed a huge lost of revenue to unauthorized individuals before and more when the online file sharing system began almost twenty years ago. The industry recorded a huge revenue globally when the online file sharing system began then. This gave global recognition to content writers, musicians and music promoters. More money were made along with fame in the year 1999 when the industry recorded a large revenue from global music sales before it declined thereafter due to strong effect of piracy.
In 1999, Napster was launched as the first globally used platform for exchanging music files without authorization of the copyright owners. In fact, this is considered by many pundits as the start of large scale unauthorized online file sharing. In 2014 and 2017, a survey indicated larger amount of online music piracy in Indonesia, Thailand and Brazil. This is as a result of relatively weaker law or measure to curb the effect.
To further buttress my point, One of the Nigerian musician popularly known as Yung6ix became a victim of this internet theft on the 5th of November 2018. This is what he wrote on his twitter page "For the first time in my life I felt something close to depression last week Monday, Lost over 11 million Naira In my blockchain account which was hacked, few days later my twitter got hacked while I was promoting my new video. Back on my feet now, thanks 4 ur love & support". Many cases are like that. Why not secure your musical file system with DACC.
