Are the Blockchain Social Networks the future?

I recently joined steemit, and discovered this new idea of "Blockchain Social Network".
Wow, good idea if you ask me! Blockchain as a concept is something I'm really interested in, but I would like to hear more opinions on this concept of Blockchain Social Networks.

What do you think, is this the future and should we start looking more into it?
