What the F is Blockchain?
Blockchain is a everywhere and no one seems to understand it.
It's like the buzz word of 2017 and going to be our reality in 2018. I've been reading and researching and for me step one is being able to explain to answer this question when a non-technical person asks. Heck, I'm a pretty technical person and I can't fully explain it simple terms. Here's some of my research and what I learn from it.
Usage of Blockchain in VR
I understand how it will be used. This article does a great job at that - especially from a perspective of Virtual Reality. But I still haven't had Blockchain defined simply.
A few different attempts at explaining Blockchain
Here's Business Insiders attempt to explain it. They look at Blockchain from a financial perspective -- which basically defines how Blockchain would eliminate back office charges on top of every transaction. Is that like the percentage fee we pay the credit card companies?
ZDNET has a simple explanation and the video seems to infer that blockchain will change the world over the next decade more substantially then the internet has in the last two years.
World Economic Forum explains Blockchain the most clearly so far. my paraphrasing - Blockchain is simply a person to person trade without a middle man but using technology for accountability.
Alright - we're getting somewhere.
Let's end this with an infographic
Price Waterhouse Cooper PWC has this pretty infographic explaining it all:
Hope these links are helpful. Finally. I think I'm finally starting to get this.
