EEP - EOS Enhancement Proposal

EEP is a standard used for the proposals of enhancements and the following work on them. This standard is used by the EOS community to develop new standards for the platform.

EOS

EOS is a name of the native token of the EOS platform. The EOS mainnet has the same name.

EOS Alliance

The EOS Alliance is a non-profit organization created for the maintenance of the discussions of the important topics on the EOS community. The Alliance is made by the community members and it has no power on the platform.

EOS Go

EOS Go is the independent news organization for the English-speaking audience of the EOS community.

EOSIO

Block.one has built the EOS mainnet and some other networks using the software called EOSIO which was also created by Block.one.

ERC-20

ERC-20 is an acronym for "Ethereum Request for Comment-20". That's a standard criterion used for creating a token on Ethereum. Initially, the EOS tokens were the part of the Ethereum Network and were ERC-20 tokens.

Fiat

A currency that has no intrinsic value but is declared legal tender by authorities is called fiat money/fiat currency.

Finality

This EOS feature means that transactions that follow the Last Irreversible Block are final and even if the attack appears these transactions cannot be removed. Finality will secure the network after Inter-Blockchain Communication will be launched.

Fork

A fork is a new blockchain that has the same history as one of the existing blockchains but starts to operate independently.

FUD

This acronym is frequently can be met in the discussions in the crypto community. The acronym stands for Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. It is used to describe the statements not backed by facts aimed to create a negative sentiment around some product or innovation in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Genesis Block

Simply put, Genesis Block is the very first block of any blockchain. The genesis block of a forked chain coincides with the genesis block of the original blockchain.

GitHub

GitHub is a platform where developers share code so their colleagues can contribute to open source projects (e.g. EOSIO).

Governance

Governance is the system of rules and conditions shared by the entire community voluntary to keep the platform operable and fair for every user.

Hackathon

Hackathon is a series of events taking place in different countries. On Hackathons the developers compete while working on some tech projects. Many of Hackathons were hosted by Block.one.

Hash

The string of data is represented by a key consisting of the constant number of symbols. Such key is called hash and it is used to verify the contents of the string.

Header

Header is the section of the block that appears in every block. On EOS header contains such details as timestamp, Last Irreversible Block, current Block Producer schedule, current block number, previous block number.
