Hollywood Might be Blocking the Blockchain
No, I'm no talking about Big Momma sitting on the servers, this is related to a new bill that is to be voted on by the Californian legislature in the next couple days.
And It Could be Bad News to all Blockchain Ventures
"This bill, until January 1, 2022, would enact the Digital Currency Business Enrollment Program, to be administrated by the Commissioner of Business Oversight, who would be granted authority to make rules and regulations for this purpose. The bill would prescribe various definitions in this regard and would define digital currency as a digital representation of value that can be digitally traded and is used to facilitate the sale, purchase, and exchange of goods, services, or other digital representations of value, except as specified. The bill would define digital currency business as offering or providing the service of storing, transmitting, exchanging, or issuing digital currency, subject to various exceptions. The bill would define a person to include an individual or other business entities, however organized."
Bla Bla Bla
That's what I thought when I read the above excerpt of the bill. Indeed, it contains vague language, fluffy technical terms and sheer inaccuracies where the blockchain and 'digital' currency is concerned. These are people who don't understand the slightest about the value and potential of this technology. People who certainly don't have our privacy and decentral economy as their first priority. And they're scary. You can Vote NO
And I implore you to do so at the following webpage: https://wfc2.wiredforchange.com/o/9042/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=10089 Steemit brings a lot more to the table than just 'virtual currency' to be sure. It's a resillient platform with many venues and values. That doesn't, however, put us in the luxury of turning a blind eye to developments like these. We're part of the blockchain and the network of value transfers, like it or not. It's in the best interest for all of us to vet and improve any legislation that may be working against us one day.Are you going to let your voice be heard against AB 1326—California’s Bitcoin License? Of course the old system is going to try to "vote out" new tech. The beauty of crypto is that much of it is decentralized and cannot be controlled. Wherever there is a centralized problem in advancing crypto, an awesome, freedom loving Dev is behind the screen making a new decentralized tech possible to free the people. Let the controllers fantasize about controlling the world. It's hilarious that they think they can license Bitcoin! Heck, maybe there will be a version of Bitcoin they can control some day. But for every attempt to co-opt the freedom technology of the people, by the people, for the people, there will be 10+ more Devs adding and updating decentralized tech somewhere else! The days of centralized financial control is quickly coming to an end. Thank you to all the Dev's out there that make this possible.
