Anmary's Diary: How Social Programs Destroy Working Desire

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

This is my diary of the Venezuelan situation...

Today I want to talk to you about how social programs sound very nice, but they destroy people's desire to work if they are badly applied, and as a consequence, people prefer to stay at home maintained by the government. In Venezuelan socialism they have used them in excess, especially near the elections (to gain votes), under the excuse of helping the "hungry people". Yes, they are necessary and very good when it is controlled to whom they apply, that they really need, but for electoral purposes, where they are given to the whole world, ruin the nation, taking away economic resources (which are expended) and humans (those who do not want to work only receive help).

This is a satirical meme of the last program of the Venezuelan government, where a bonus of 700,000 Bs (3.5 $) per month will be given to pregnant women, all of whom have a Carnet de la Patria (instrument used by the government to count to his followers or "votes"). It shows up a private campaign against teenage pregnancy "If you hurry, What do you win?" and the bottom one responds that money. The minimum wage in this country is 248,510 Bs (1.1 $) so ... What do you prefer? Working or getting pregnant? This situation in a country where maternal and neonatal mortality are increasing, vaccines and medicines scarce and with expensive diapers and milk (the package of 10 diapers costs a minimum wage).

Who should this program go to? To anyone ... the right thing and civilized would be to invest these funds in sex education, encourage the use of contraceptives and promote proper family planning so that the number of abandoned pregnant women is reduced.

Note: Dollar calculated at unofficial (real) change. Then I will do a post explaining the exchange rates in Venezuela.

I await your comments.

Thank you very much
