RE: Ever wonder why: #1 Why is the default drive called the C:/ drive and what does CP/M have to do with it?

in #blog7 years ago

Hi Andy, it's Paula. I never knew about the A and B drives for the computer. I did wonder why 'C', and whatever happened to A and B. Now I know!

I did have a computer long long ago with a floppy drive. May even have a couple floppies somewhere in storage, but really no way of accessing it nowadays. I don't remember ever seeing an A or B but it must have been there. It was that long ago!

Hi Paula. Nowadays they make external floppy drives that you can connect to your PC via USB. Funny thing is if you do that it will still go to the next open drive letter after C due to it being external. You should get those floppies check out. You never know, there could be digital gold on it.

Will do, if I can find them!

I sent your post to @mikepm74 for his curation support. I noticed he stopped by so be sure to stop by his blog to show your support!

Will do. Thanks @beeyou!
