Steemit Rewards and Realistic Expectations

I made a post about Voting Apathy this post expounds the idea. I’d like to start the post with a quote that guides my understanding about how content creators are rewarded in the platform.

We only earn so long the whales allow us to earn. Cause the whales can basically zero down everyone else. And if they decide to abuse the system, then everyone else will earn a lot less due to the joint reward pool. - @geekorner

It’s self explanatory what the thought implies. Our rewards depend on the grace of those who hold a lot of SP in their accounts. How much you earn in the platform depends on the charity of the people your surround yourself with and whoever comes by to fancy your post.

There’s more favoritism factor than skill in creating quality content. That’s a reality. How else would undervalued authors remain a high prevalence and overvalued shitposters thrive? Money talks.

Your voice is worth something. Join the community that pays you to post and curate high quality content.

Now where did we read that before? Take a guess. Not sure what they meant about high quality content or any community in steemit particular about high quality content. But what I do know is that the line just looks good on paper.

Your rewards in the platform depend on how much charitable the people around you are. If they like you, your content could be average and you’d still get hundreds of SBD worth of upvote. Skill element plays little factor here. Even shitty memes earn well by the grace of dolphins or whale friends the author is acquainted with.

(Totoo naman, kahit hindi maganda yung post ng na endorse sayo napipilitan kanalang mag upvote dahil ayaw mo ma hurt feelings ng besh or beh mo. Hindi naman importante yung dekalidad, peer pressure lang ok na.)

Not much you can do about it as a minnow. Whales and dolphins earned their spot by investing money in the platform while the rest of the population just hopes to get a share of the money printing scheme.

(Bili ka ng maraming steem at kung wala kang pera, sabay lang sa agos ng buhay.)

What you can do is just improve whatever content you got working for you and make good friends in the platform. Most are in the platform for the money and secondary motives like making the world or this platform a better place just comes later.

(Inexpect mo ba na bigla kang kikita agad sa blogging kung unang beses kapalang nag blog at sa steemit pa? Ok naman siguro mag expect kung may experience kana dati sa feature writing or similar na klaseng pagsulat. Pera ang dahilan bakit na intriga ka sa steemit at na hype kanaman. Yung pag diskobre na maraming possibilidad yung platform tulad ng pag make friends, charity, and self improvement huli na darating at yun usually mga rason bakit napapatagal ka sa platform.)

You heard from a neighbor, classmate, co-worker, saw an ad online, or stranger talk about easy money being in the site. Guess what? There’s no money here. Not easily earned anyway. You’d have to strive improving your content/craft or kiss ass to get noticed.

(Walang pera dito hangga’t hindi ka marunong maging sipsip or gumawa ng blogs na kaaya-aya)

The posts that trend are paid advertisements straight from the author’s pocket. They could also be backed by whales. Again, not much a lowly minnow can do.

(Wag kanalang tumingin sa trending page. Pag nananiwala ka na yun talaga ang gusto ng karamihang user sa platform na posts, nako, parang naniwala kanarin sa tunay na pag-ibig. 2018 na ngayun, walang poreber.wala besh. Wala.)

High SP accounts gained their value because they tossed a lot of money in the platform or got backed by someone that tossed money. Because we have a joint reward pool, all content creators are locked in a figurative tug of war for the reward pool. If there were more whales conniving together for greed, nobody else gets anything beyond their circle.

(Nag invest mga tao dito ng malaking pera habang karamihan hindi. Kelangan nilang mabawi pera nila at kumita pa. Buti kung maraming tao na sumusunod sa platform at bumibili ng steem, yung tutulong tumaas ng presyo ng steem at sbd pero karamihan hindi. Librend account at pagkumita sa upvote, sabay cash out. Ma swerte nalang tayo na hindi lahat ng balyena gustong kumita para sa sarili nila)

What you can do is support curation communities that give low SP accounts a chance for growth in the platform. You know? Those communities that actually give a shit about quality content and rewarding undervalued authors?

(Hindi ko naman sinasabi na mag delegate kayo sa bestofph pero hindi rin masamang ideya yan. :D)

These communities do care about rewarding undervalued authors. But never expect you’ll earn anything from them if you don’t get your content straight, free from plagiarism, or reputation associated with abuse in the platform.

(Ang hirap nilang mapasaya at mapansin ka dahil maraming guidelines sa pag husga kung pwede yung post mo para sa upvote. Isipin mo nalang na kung wala silang guidelines ano nalang mangyayari sa platform kung di motivated mga tao gumawa g magandang post?)

Just keep posting quality content and the rewards will follow. But when? Good question, your best bet to earn them sooner is being actively engagement with the community. Use the power of networking for those rewards. I’m not talking about superficial connections that says “follow me and I’ll follow you back”, I’m talking about genuine compliments that aren’t generic, real, and sincere human connections.

(Kaya mo yan besh. Mag effort lang sa post. Sabayan mo nalang sa galing ng pag papansin sa iabng myembro ng platform. Mag networking ka kung open-minded ka. Basta magiging totoo ka sa papuring binibigay mo dahil hindi naman lahat tanga na di mahalata ang labis na pambobola.)

This platform has plenty of fake quality content creators, fake valued posts, fake artists, fake poets, fake identities, and fake fakers. You get the gist.

(Yung platform na to maraming made in china at nagegets nyu naman kung san patungo yung kwento.)

It doesn’t matter if your content doesn’t equate to Huffington post level, or your art isn’t as good as the pros in the industry, or your use of English has too many flaws. If you’re sincere enough to engage in your chosen niche/community and constantly make effort improving your post, people will eventually notice you.

(Ok lang kahit hindi pang Huffington post yung dekalidad ng post, hindi magandang sining kagaya ng mga gawa ng eksperto, or kamatis English mo. Pag pursigido ka besh sa pag improve ng gawa mo may mapapala ka. Hindi lang kapitbahay, classmate, katrabaho or friend mo uupvote sayo.)
