Punchcode Programming Bootcamp, Day 55

I'm writing this blog from campus. In the other room there is a live podcast being recorded. Social media everywhere!

I took on a few issues with our final project. Styling for the page will probably be a thing I do right up to the code freeze next week. There is always something that can be touched up a little bit. UI and UX are such deep fields that you can always improve the usability of a site. And considering that I've been a front-end developer for all of 11 weeks I'm sure there are a few things on the site that can be changed for the better.

I put together a site logo in GIMP and also rewrote the readme in our Github to discuss the background of the project and a few statistics about hunger and poverty in Las Vegas. I understand that people's expectations for our demo day will be a bit low because we are the "juniorest of junior" developers at this stage and we had less than 2 weeks to produce a working product based on mockups. But I really want to see jaws drop when we unveil this site. And I want everyone to know how much time and effort we all put into it. That means focusing on the little things and working right up to the end.

The team members working on React Native are pushing through all the challenges and making great progress. I've been in a separate room doing my own thing with styles and the mobile site. Of course we are still communicating our changes and our work and that's how we have been able to maintain any kind of synergy.

My concerns for the weekend are mostly bug fixes and making sure that we are all running the same working code. And thinking of anything else that might need to get added for UI/UX since Monday is the final day for adding any features. There is a 100% chance that some unforeseen thing will pop up and there will be a scramble at the end to fix something or build a missing thing. But there is also a 100% chance that kind of thing happens everyday in any developing environment so when it happens I'll just chalk it up to additional work experience.
