CLAWS S1EP5 REVIEW! (Definite Subliminals & Spoilers!)

A couple weeks ago I got HOOKED on the show Claws on the TNT Channel. If you haven't watched it, read this brief synopsis, drop your phones and close your laptops because you are missing out! This is the most diverse show that I have watched in a long time, hands down!

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: So far this show is centered around a nail salon, Nail Artisans of Manatee County, and is run by Desna (Niecy Nash) and four manicurists: Jennifer (Jenn Lyon), Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes), Polly Poll (Carrie Preston), and Virginia (Karrueche Tran). 3 of the 4 are her close friends, but eventually they become close. All of them have their own wild stories that you will see as the show continues. Not to mention that they are helping run an underground drug business in a local pharmacy nearby. While Desna is struggling to move her nail salon elsewhere and "get out of the game" she is swallowed back in after the mysterious murder of her lover and boss at the pharmacy, Roller (Jack Kesy); He is heart eyes completely, but his character got what was coming for him. But back on topic, she and Virginia have some secrets that are causing some MAJOR problems in that community and their personal lives.

Now that we are all caught up, lets get to this review!

Okay, so we have known since Episode one that Virginia killed Roller, after he hurt her and in the process of punching Desna in the face for trying to drown him; Trust me, she had a good reason. Desna is now helping Virginia cover up his murder. After some long investigation by Clay, aka Uncle Daddy (Dean Norris) aka the rich ringleader & uncle of Roller and his brother Bryce (Kevin Rankin) , they grow very suspicious of them because Virginia's behavior. But it's not only them, Polly Poll is also very suspicious and confronts Virginia... YEP SHE FOUND OUT!

Anyways, Desna gets the idea to frame her old foster parents after her brother, Dean (Harold Perrineau), who has autism, finally tells her that they sexually abused him, on top of all of the other HORRIBLE things that they did. They shouldn't have taunted them moments before, because that's when Polly agreed to break in their home and plant Roller's stolen money and guns in their house.. As you can guess, they are DEAD now! But the heart breaking part is that it was done at the hands of Bryce, he was such a good husband to Jennifer, father, and person. Furthermore, we learn that ROLLER IS STILL ALIVE!

What do I think of all of this?
It is CRAZY! The biggest parts that stood out me was Roller's comeback and the Desna and Dean story.. In that order!

Since I could be OCD and love everything in chronological order, we will start with the siblings. I cannot believe that their old foster parents flipped their switch form the nice, loveable couple around their guests to the mean and hateful demons alone with the two siblings. They tore into Desna and Dean in the worst way, calling them names and opening scars in their minds that may never heal. And it's crazy because this type of abuse has actually happens in multiple foster homes around he US. I can't say I felt bad for when they had to go, man the writers know how to make you hate a character!

Now the big one, ROLLER! Okay, I hate to be the one to say that I knew it all along, BUT I KNEW IT ALL ALONG! With this show, you have to watch all of the subliminals! Desna's realistic daydreams and nightmares of Roller hanging around and telling her "I'll see you soon." is insane! Also, in the scene where he is "murdered" Virginia doesn't even shoot him in a vital area! See, the bullet hit him in between the chest and shoulder, so the power of the gun must have just knocked him out. I believe that once Desna and Virginia set the boat, that they left him on, ON FIRE that he woke up and jumped out onto the swamp. He probably had only enough strength to swim to the shore and passed out again; where he was found and taken by some "coo coo crazy" woman who thinks he is her lover Eisenhower? Back to the subliminals, whenever Roller was "doing his business" with girls, including Desna, he had a choking fetish, as you will hear said millions of times "Baby, baby, squeeze my neck!" but the connection is, when we find out that Roller is alive, he is CHAINED BY HIS NECK on the bed of this crazy woman.

If i were to go into detail about all of the subliminals, I would need a whole new post!

I love this show so much! The cast has starred in so many different tv shows like Lost, Strain, Scream Queens, Devious Maids, Lucifer, Netflix Original Series: Girlboss, and so much more! Catch it on Sundays at 9pm on the TNT Network; In my opinion, you won't be disappointed!
