Pikachu is the most famous Pokémon character, This is due to its appearance in the animated series (it is the main Pokémon of Ash, the protagonist of the series), He is also the mascot of the company created from the video game (Game Freak). His high recognition in front of the public and the fans has caused its appearance in multiple films and videogames, being the protagonist in many of them.

Using as a reference the Pikachu that we see in the animated series (the companion of Ash), the little yellow mouse is quite kind and friendly, a Pokémon that always looks for the overcoming in the battles and that is quite attentive with its friends (although it is necessary to remember that at the beginning of the series it was quite rebellious). Strangely, Pikachu does not like to be in his Pokéball, always travels on Ash's shoulder or on his head to all sides.

Pikachu is the main representative of Pokemon in the saga of fights Super Smash Bros Nintendo , It is also my favorite character in the franchise and my main character in the game. It's the Pokémon # 25 of the Kanto and the Alola region (coincidentally the same day of my birthday) and the Pokémon initial in the game Pokémon Yellow (Yellow) (game that has slight changes in order to look a bit like the animated series).

Anyway, there are many things that make this Pokemon very affectionate unlike to the rest of the Pokemon that's why today I bring you 10 Things You Did not Know about Pikachu, the Little Electric Rodent.

1 - At the beginning of the game Pokémon Yellow (Yellow) for Game Boy Color, the Professor Oak will tell you that the Pikachu that he is giving you was found in the grass. However, you will not find any other Pikachu in it, giving more resemblance to this game in relation to the animated series; we will go through our tour with our Pikachu, just like Ash. Even Pikachu will refuse to be sent to the PC to be released, reflecting a text that says "Pikachu thinks this is not correct".

2 - One of the most frequent questions we can find on the Internet is about their sex. Many people think that all Pokémon regardless of their gender are the same, but it is not like that. There are several Pokémon that have visual differences as in the case of Pikachu. To differentiate between a male and a female, just look at his tail. If the cut of the tail looks like lightning, it means that we are talking about a Pikachu male, but if the cut is in the shape of a heart, we will be talking about a female. So I ask you, do you know the genre of Pikachu of the first image of the post?

3 - The producers of the series always thought that Ash, the main character, was accompanied by a Pokémon. They thought about it and decided to use Clefairy as the companion of our Pokémon Master but for our fortune (and that of Pikachu), that idea was discarded. Then, when rethinking the situation, they decided that the yellow mouse was the best option, because they thought that Pikachu could achieve more empathy with the audience, besides that by its color, it would be more visually attractive.

4 - In the video game of Super Smash Bros for Wii U & Nintendo 3Ds, if we change the color of Pikachu, this Pokémon can use:

  • The Red cap (protagonist of the first generation).
  • The Gold cap (protagonist of the second generation).
  • The Bruno bandana (protagonist of the third generation).
  • The Kalm cap (protagonist of the sixth generation).

5 - Pikachu in the series, refers to Ash as "Pi-Ka-Pi" due to a play on words. The name of Ash in Japanese is Satoshi, so if we separate it into syllables it would be "Sa-To-Shi", curious,? Do not?

6 -In the videogame and in the series they refer to Pikachu as a mouse, this Pokémon is really inspired by a squirrel. According to her creator, its cheeks can function as bags, similar to those that form in squirrels when they eat a lot of acorns. The most curious thing is that Pikachu's favorite food is apples and ketchup, nothing similar or related to squirrels, which shows that their appearance was the only thing they took from that animal. As an additional addition, the stripes on his back were awarded only to distinguish him while he was not in front of the player (remember that earlier in the battles Pokémon the pocket pets that were fighting for us were on their backs).

7 - In its three-phase evolutionary line, Pikachu is the second form and then with a Thunder Stone, it can take the form of Raichu, its strongest evolution, but this was not always the case. At first it was thought that Pikachu should have three evolutions, although in that first idea, Pikachu would be the first phase and Raichu would be who it would evolve to Gorochu. This idea was discarded to give more balance to the game because it was thought that in that case, Pikachu would be very powerful.

8 - Pikachu is a Pokémon of the electric type. Your cheeks are the ones that generate electricity in your body, and this electricity is conducted and discharged by the tip of your tail. The electric shock generated by this Pokémon varies in intensity depending on your mood. Many times its tail absorbs electricity from the storms, thus having much more electricity to use in your body.

9 - Pikachu has refused to evolve even though he has had the opportunity to become a Raichu. In an episode of the anime in its first season, when Ash was going to challenge to Lt. Surge for the Thunder Medal, the Master Pokémon proposes to the yellow mouse to evolve through the Thunder Stone but Pikachu does not accept. This reference is also seen in the videogame Pokémon Yellow (Yellow), because no matter how hard we try, the Pikachu that Professor Oak gives us will strongly refuse to evolve.

10 -Although not in its latest evolutionary form, Pikachu of Ash has been able to defeat two legendary Pokémon battles. The first was a Latios in the Sinnoh region during the Pokémon League. Later, Pikachu would beat Regice of Brandon proving that without being a Raichu he can be really strong and a rival worthy for anyone.

With the passing of time, we have seen that Pikachu has taken many characteristics of his Ash trainer, because he has a lot of willpower to face the most difficult challenges without any fear. Throughout the animated series has learned many attacks that have helped at all times to overcome each of the adversities and pokémons that face him. I really think that he is a very affectionate character and that he achieves a great empathy with anyone (and we can see that in the same series, because all Ash's companions get along well with this Pokémon), demonstrating that the management that has been given at all times by the company has been correct.

Wow! There were some things in here I didn't know about! I always thought pikachu was based on a rodent rather than a squirrel specifically but hey you really transmitted your love for Pikachu in here. Loved the post <3

Thanks for your comment bro! I really love this Pokémon, mostly because of the Super Smash videogame. They are many curiosities but I think I took some of the most relevant ones. I put a lot of love, jajaja.

It really shines through your words.

I imagined you started liking Pikachu so much because of smash, lol. The same happened to me but with Ike. I started playing him on Smash 4 and I've loved the character since!

It was the intention, hahaha, I really love it. I have bad experiences against Ike, but I must admit that he is a good character, although his position in the tier.

Yeah, his position in the tier list is not the best but nonetheless I still like the character overall!

Oh thanks! <3

I’m glad they did not go with Clefairy. What a strange universe that would have been not having Pikachu the star he is. I’ve always liked Pikachu more than Ash. Some great facts very nice write-up.

Yes, the truth is that without Pikachu the story would be different. We have to thank that things are as they are now.
