30 Year olds guide to everything!! Marriage

in #blog7 years ago

Steemit!!! What up,

So, today I wanted to give my take on marriage. Being married is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. Again, being in my 30's I think it is a good place to make some observations. Just so I have some credibility, I have been married for 12 years now and have 4 children so I don't know everything but I know a lot of things.

First and foremost I have to start by saying marriage is great and I encourage everyone to strive towards meeting that special someone and committing to them. It was the way God designed it and it is still the best option for people today. That however is not the main message I want to talk about. I want to discuss what I believe to be a main factor why couples get divorced. You quit being the person your spouse married.

The kinds of things I'm talking about is say for instance you married your husband for a lot of reasons but among the biggest reasons is that he was funny, determined to be successful and always told you how beautiful you were, made you feel special. Then after 10 years of marriage he has become grumpy and mean, he doesn't joke very often anymore, he has been overlooked at work and has sort of given up and he rarely if ever complements you. Well, that's not the man you married. He resembles the man you married but is certainly different in a lot of ways. Girls for example, say your husband married you because you were hot (lets be honest, that's a big deal), you always took time to dress nice and look nice, you were supportive of his dreams and motivated him to strive for those dreams and you had goals and aspirations of your own. Now, 10 years later and a couple of kids you're 50lbs overweight, you wear sweat pants when you go out, you complain about his job either because of lack of money or because he's gone to much and you focus all of your attention on the kids. That is not the women he married. You resemble that women but she is very different in a lot of ways. I believe this is very common and probably happens to every couple in some form or fashion if you have been married long enough.

These are gateways to a lot of other problems. You may overlook some financial short comings if your husband is still sweet and funny and treats you well but if that all goes away and you don't have any money that the money becomes a bigger issue. You may overlook your wife paying a little more attention to the kids or wishing you tried harder at work if you were still attracted to her. If you're not, then those things become bigger issues to you.

SO MY ADVISE TO STEEMSTERS THAT EITHER ARE MARRIED OR ARE PLANNING ON GETTING MARRIED. BE THE PERSON YOUR SPOUSE MARRIED OR BETTER IF YOU WANT THE MARRIAGE TO LAST.
If He married this Strive hard not to become this

Likewise if she married this try hard not to become this

Now if you find your self in the situation where you or your spouse or most likely both of you are not the person you married it's not to late. Do some soul searching and be honest with yourself. There may be a lot wrong with your spouse but is there anything you let slip. Go back, ask your spouse to be honest with you and you be honest with them. Together you can right the ship and have the great marriage all your friends will be envious of.
