Whispers of the wild #1 series (photos)
Hello Steemian friends,
You are probably wondering what whispers of the wild is, right? it is actually the theme of the Lake Mburo National park which was gazzeted to accomodate a wide range of animals in western Uganda.
In my previous edition, i promised to show you the different beautiful aspects of my country. In this particular article I would love to feature Lake Mburo National park.
The smallest of the savannah national parks in Uganda at 260 square kilometers.
The park has a variety of animals including zebras, hippopotamai, impalas, giraffes, warthogs, elands, buffalos, jackals and leopards and over 300 bird species.
The park has camp grounds too and tent facilities for visitors. The land was originally used by the Banyankole a tribe in Uganda famous for their love for long horned cattle where they would graze their cattle. However the land was upgraded to a game park in 1963 therefore providing protection to many animals which were being head hunted for meat by the locals.
The pastoralists in the park then were therefore evicted.
The park as a destination is ideal for surprise birthdays, anniversary trips, tourists visiting and camping with friends.
You will also get the chance to catch a glimpse of the long horned cattle and a perfect chance to enjoy nature.
There are accommodation facilities at the park but if you would love to have a night away you could rest at one of the places in the nearest town in Mbarara.
Well this is just one of them, there is much more that am yet to show you about this great country.
