Cryptocurrency: who has the keys to the safe

in #blog8 years ago

I see that there are a lot of people holding large amounts of crypto. I wander how many of those people have considered what would happen to that crypto if they died. Do their heirs have the keys to the safe?

With the ubiquitousness of two factor authentication, that could be more complicated than it sounds. If your Bitcoin wallet sends information to your email that you need to access that wallet, can your children access that email? Do you want to give them access? Is there a 3rd party that you can trust with that information, or should you just print out that information and stick it in your safe deposit box?

Many people probably think that they can just sell out before they die. They may be right, but they may also be sadly mistaken. You can't predict when you are going to die. It's best to have a plan in the event that this happens unexpectedly. Are you prepared?
