"DTube is Too Slow & Too Difficult To Use" - My Response To Some Criticisms that Have Come Across My Page
The fact that the steem blockchain is actually fully operational is a miracle in and of itself. The fact that there is a platform similar to YouTube in DTube is even more of a miracle. In any innovation, there will always be speed problems. You get a competitive advantage by being faster, cheaper and better. When it comes to new technologies however, speed eventually comes. It's just a matter of time. So that is and never will be a deal breaker for DTube. Speed will come. It's just a matter of time and innovation.
When it comes to the EASE or lack thereof DTube, I don't really think it's that difficult to use DTube. In fact, it's one of the easiest sites to use. Just drag your video in a box. Make a title. Write in the Description. Tag. Upload a snap. You're done. ANYBODY can use it. What they might have been referring to are common errors that occur. With that, I do agree that errors occur. In any platform in its infancy errors will occur. And just like the speed issue. They will take care of themselves.
Just think about this for a second. Your videos are going up on a blockchain. Forever. It is decentralized. Nobody can silence you. Nobody can demonetize you. No single central authority gets 90% of the profits. And it's WORKING!!! It's actually WORKING guys! :D
DTube is the future. It may not be there yet, but it's going in that direction.

hey man @dnews, not new to me though, i mean, even if all is going on fine without bugs, you will sure find those who would complain, there is no social media platform that got it right from the onset, the facebook team do update the app every now and then.
With little more patience, Dtube will sure get there.

I agree also, this platform is growing and people just need to be patient.
I found that by compressing my HD videos down to 720p it helped with uploading. A tip I learned from @paulsmuts :)
I also have trouble posting comments directly on Dtube so I just post on Steemit for now.
Wish I could make it out to the meetup but I moved from Toronto to Vancouver last year lol.
Maybe we can organize a meetup out here...

Can i use my phone to participate in Dtube.? It appears that almost everyone is into it. I have tried to do it with my phone but to no avail. Is it that I am not doing it correctly.

Yeah join the DTube fam! Unfortunately right now you'll have to use a laptop or desktop to upload. You can view videos on it, but I still haven't been able to upload with my cellphone. Maybe others have. They're working it out. I'm sure we'll see something in the next update :) I think if you have an Android you might be able to. I'll try next time I have my hands on an android, but I use an iPhone.

I believe because the dtube upload uses torrent you’re not able to do it on iPhone or iPad, I’m not sure about android I believe it should be possible but you might have to root your phone to allow access to the process required for torrent uploads.
Ahhhhh. That's why. Yeah the CTO of DTube commented on one of my videos that he can get it to work on android, but iOS is being a pain.

Is DTube too slow and difficult to use or are some people just too hectic and impatient? People keep forgetting that all of this is still beta! Of course those bugs are being fixed but for a beta I’m already really satisfied with the overall experience on this whole platform.

My biggest issue that I can't wait to see fixed is the way uploaders have to compress their videos to such a low quality in order for them to upload without issue. A lot of the videos on here look like they were filmed with a potato but I have faith that things will get ironed out and we will have an amazing experience in the future.
Don't we all hate those Potato cameras? So 1980s. :D
The larger the file, the longer the upload. I think that's why for now, people are settling with 720 or 480. I personally upload in 720. I used to upload in 1080 and I just realized it's so much faster at 720 so I've been sticking with that. It'll get worked out :)

I agree with you. The platform is in its infancy! I have already experienced some of its problems, but I soldiered on. Like you said before, it will get fixed. I intend to post regularly over here!
Quick questions though... I haven't been able to directly post comments on Dtube. Any thoughts? am I missing something?
Also, is there any way to use html editing on the video description to make it look like a proper blog entry back over steemit?
Yes there is! Just click on the "advanced" tab when you're uploading and you can see the steemit article blog :D hope that helped!
With commenting - I'm not too sure. I can comment fine on my mac and also pc computers and also on my iPhone. Are you using android?

Hmm...I've actually done it on my macbook air and it's uploaded fine for me. I'm using the latest version, maybe that has something to do with it?
dtube is still really new and has to do tons of work, but they are doing. Youtube is compared to dtube many years of developement ahead, but dtube will improve and evolve in the future getting better, faster and easiert
