I am making my investigation: Finland # 1steemCreated with Sketch.

It seems the Finnish school used to be very good but the performances are right now not as much brilliant as in the past.
Despite the fact that they are still better than the Italian one for sure.
Some people as you can learn from this video are even trying to export Finnish learning school, even in countries like Saudi Arabia.
I wonder if this part of the Finnish economy is suffering as well.

Anyway, it seems that every Finns has been taught at least two foreign languages such as Sweden and English.
Some people speak much more than those two ones, which sounds like a miracle to me.
It seems those are the results of Finnland, Italy in PISA tests:

YearsNationReadingMath
2012Finlandnumber 6Number 12
2012Italynumber 27Number 32

In 2015, U.S. students ranked 40th in math, 25th in science and 24th in reading, although, this result do not make me so happy.
Coming back to Finland there are some reasons regard this downward trend:

  • Girls in Finland outsmart boys it seems they have broader interest for reading and that is helpful for scoring high in PISA.
  • It seems Finnish people are not reading as much as in the past and social media communications is eating the quality time spend in order to read a book
  • The economic downturn is not helping the Finnish education at all. The government is cutting down funds for education and tutoring. It is amazing to notice the decline started some years ago, some articles speak about from 2006.

I wonder if there is somebody from Finland that is worried about the education system in there, and this is not a critic. I am just analysing a phenomenon and asking questions:

  • Aren't the children with learning difficulty strongly disadvantaged by this austerity?
  • What do you aspect from the future of your nation in terms of education?

I am aware there is a reformed scheduled for 2020, which should make education more practical.
Other new nations, that are kind of surprise to me, scoring high in PISA are: Estonia and Australia

I would like to underline as much I can that I have nothing against Finnish people, I love them and I was also in the beautiful Tampere

I will research further as soon as I can

This is true, my brother is studying currently and agrees with that.
