The influence on Drones in our society today - blog

in #blog7 years ago

These unmanned devices are everywhere and they can do everything - from saving lives (yes even medical teams have started to dispatch emergency defibrillator machines attached to drones), crop spraying on agriculture farms to even delivering pizza.

Drones have the potential to transform the world for the better. In the UK for example, the emergency services have started to use them to help people in danger, while the defense industry is exploring how drones can improve security. The all new DJI Matrice 200 can now aid in surveillance at much higher success rates and also aid firefighters and National Sea Rescue in search and recovery!

Around the world, wildlife conservationists are embracing the technology to monitor animals and any potential threats against them by using drones. I know of a company quite well that combats against Poachers by using drones in the air. They are silent from far and can capture video with infrared or night vision. There fight to save the rhinos is coming along quite nicely due to this awesome technology we have use of today.

Fun Fact: While they may be considered a modern invention, their origins can be traced back to the Thirties when they were used as target practice by the Royal Marines. How cool??!

Unfortunately though, there are still some bad reports on the use of drones. The first known use of a "suicide drone" is believed to have taken place during the recent fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Azerbaijani forces are thought to have deployed a drone tipped with explosives and crashed it into its target, rather than firing a missile.
The drone slammed into a bus carrying Armenian volunteer soldiers and killed seven people, according to the Armenian defense ministry.

But as they have taken off in popularity, the number of problems associated with drones is also on the rise. Recklessness and arrogance plays a significant role in the drone use of today. People abuse the power that comes from using a drone. Even ISIS strap grenades and drop them from the sky causing deadly harm to others!

Another serious problem is our airport security. The number of reported near-misses between drones and planes is on the rise. In the first four months of 2016, there were 15 reported near-misses, according to a Freedom of Information request. Another example is what happened late of last year at the Dubai Airport. Dubai airport closed, after a drone was spotted in its airspace. The airport was closed for a little over an hour, grounding flights at another nearby airport that shared flight paths.

But all in all I believe Drones have a bigger influence on us regarding 'good' rather than 'bad!'

What are some of your thoughts behind the influence drones have on us today?

I hope you enjoyed this article i put together.
