RE: Decadence and Dating

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

Ever since the the 1960's (you could argue since world war 2, and women entering the work place) Contraception, freedom to choose , relationships in the west, and birth rates, have been declining.

Contraception the use thereof, has been increasing a LOT...prior to the sixties it was pretty much unavailable.

freedom to choose has increased exponentially in every facet of life. Take cell phones for example...how many cell phones did you have to chose from in 1959?

but...but..but...cell phones were not invented then! EXACTLY RIGHT. Advances in technology have increased the freedom to choose beyond anyone's wildest dreams..

relationships in the west...increased dramatically...we have an embarassement of riches for potential interpersonal relationships. The fact that I am corresponding with you is an example...in 1960 such a thing was impossible.

Birth rates....finally got one right.
Birth rates HAVE been declining in EVERY developed country in the world. A higher standard of living is the worlds very best contraception.

The reason the population of the world increased was not because more people were being born so much as that much fewer of them were dying......now the two curves have crossed...the population rate of increase is decreasing ...soon the global population will begin to decline, as it already is in every developed nation (discounting immigration).

The gist or your post seems to acknowledge the monkeysphere. That is a good thing since the underlying factors are hardwired into our brain at a genetic level.

Sort:

You would be correct, in your assessment.

ah...very good young padawan.

Amazing discussion between 2 veterans so it feels. I have no idea what the "monkeysphere" is nor what been happening in the 1960s for that matter.

But I completely agree with your statements

A higher standard of living is the worlds very best contraception.

Very informative discussion. Thanks for engaging :)

This is awesome information. I feel my little brain got a little bit bigger, so is hopefully my little monkeysphere ;)
Many thanks for sharing. I really appreciate the knowledge :D

your monkeysphere is the number of people that you know whom you consider to be US. At some point the data exceeds your capacity to process it and beyond that number (of people) you think of them as THEM....it's a wetware thing....genetic.

Yup, very interesting brain system we have :)
