Lunar eclipse
What is Lunar Eclipse?
A Lunar Eclipse occurs when the moon passes into the shadows of the earth behind it, which occurs only when the Sun ,the Moon and the Earth appears to be in a straight line.
What happens during a Lunar Eclipse?
During a Lunar Eclipse the sunlight onto the moon is completely blocked by the earth, due to which the shadows of the earth falls on the moon, and the only light on the moon is Earth's refracted light. The color of the moon appears to be reddish due to Rayleigh scattering of blue light.
The longest full blood moon of the century was on 27th of July 2018.
